Though snowplows were clearing streets in Istanbul, many cars remained buried on roadsides on Wednesday, January 26, days after major winter storms struck the Turkish city. This video by @Natyorbizniss shows parked cars buried under several inches of snow on Wednesday. In Hadımköy, many people were forced to abandoned their vehicles on the road as they were driving, with some being left since January 24, NTV reported. Many drivers had yet to pick up their stranded cars on Wednesday, they said. Istanbul’s governor, Ali Yerlikaya, called on residents to remove cars they had abandoned during the snowstorm. Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Authority (AFAD) said more than 24,000 people displaced by the storms across 19 provinces were sheltered in guesthouses or other facilities. More than 81,000 personnel and 27,000 vehicles from various agencies worked to clear snow-covered roads and distribute aid to people affected, AFAD said. Credit: @Natyorbizniss via Storyful
