National Cabinet is considering relaxing COVID isolation rules for close contacts.
Australia’s expert health panel, the AHPPC, has been asked to provide advice to the states and territories on how to safely remove the quarantine period.
National Cabinet has also agreed to move away from PCR tests for Australians with mild symptoms.
If the AHPPC agrees to the plan, people with mild COVID symptoms will be encouraged to voluntarily self-isolate.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison says it’s time for the rules to change.
