Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is holding off on revealing a back-to-school plan until Education Minister Grace Grace can attend the announcement.
Ms Grace is in isolation after contracting COVID.
The plan will answer questions around masks, rapid antigen testing and isolation requirements.
It is believed students in grades three to six will be encouraged to wear masks if social distancing is not possible.
Queensland has delayed the start of the school year until February 7 due to concerns about the Omicron peak and vaccinations.
