Sky News host Peta Credlin says the race has “tightened significantly” after pre-poll votes tallied on Monday revealed a swing against the Liberal Party in the seat of Willoughby.
It comes after by-elections were held in four NSW electorates last Saturday.
“A swing against the Liberal Party and its candidate, Tim James, now at 19 per cent; the little-known Independent, Larissa Penn, is sitting on 32 per cent of the first preference vote,” Ms Credlin said.
“As Channel Seven’s Jason Morrison pointed out today, Gladys Berejiklian only won Willoughby by 144 votes back in 2003, against then a very popular Independent.
“That result took weeks to declare; I reckon we might be the same sort of delay here in this one as well.”
