Sky News host Tim Gilbert says the retirement of tennis champion Ash Barty at the age of 25 is “quite refreshing” and she is “quintessentially authentic”.
As Barty has previously pursued other sports, Mr Gilbert said this could be a possibility for her future.
“This is a girl who started her career at the age of 14, played in Wimbledon Juniors, walked away from the game of tennis, then went to the game of cricket (and) mastered the game of cricket,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
Barty has remained world number one for the past two and a half years.
“Ash Barty obviously has a larger life she wants to live. She’s got other things she wants to do.
“There’s so many options available to her,” he said.
