Ukrainian military forces showed volunteers in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv how to operate military weapons provided by Western allies, as the city prepared to defend itself from further Russian attacks, footage showed on Friday, March 11. Footage captured by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s (RFE/RL) Ukrainian Service shows members of the 112th Territorial Defense Force brigade showing recruits how to operate anti-tank weapons provided by Western allies. Some volunteers had no previous military experience, according to RFE/RL. The deputy commander of the brigade said the number of volunteers was “10 times more men than we planned,” according to a translation provided by RFE/RL. “The total number of the Territorial Defense Forces in the country was supposed to be 100,000, but now it’s over 200,000. In Kyiv, we planned to have a brigade of 6,500, but we have 12 times more than that. That’s just the deployed personnel. It’s a strong force. It’s breathtaking to even speak about them. People have stood up,” he said, according to the translation. Credit: RFE/RL via Storyful
