Blizzard and winter storm warnings were issued for parts of New York State on Saturday, January 29, as a Nor’easter storm closed in on the northeast United States, the National Weather Service (NWS) said. The NWS warned of multiple hazards due to heavy snow in the northeast, with as much as two feet of snow expected to hit the Boston area. Thousands of flights were canceled as the winter storm moved up the east coast of the US, Flight Aware reported. New York was forecast to get five to eight inches of snow. Low temperatures prompted the city’s department of emergency management to issue an advisory about frostbite and hypothermia Footage by Storyful’s Nollaig O’Connor shows Manhattan streets covered in snow, and a man using a snow thrower along the sidewalk.
