The Herald Sun’s Caleb Bond says there’s “something wrong” if students are leaving school without a basic level of literacy and numeracy.
The Age has reported the literacy and numeracy skills of Victorian Year 12 students will be recorded on their graduating certificate, to give employers better insight into their capabilities.
“I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t be there,” Mr Bond said.
“If you’re going for a job, I think your employer ought to know what your level of skill is.
“It’s a pretty basic thing.”
