Minister for Agriculture David Littleproud says the Australian Agriculture Visa Program is now effectively ”uncapped” and will de “demand-driven”.
“We’re hoping that other countries, now that Vietnam has signed, will also sign up as well,” he told Sky News Australia.
Mr Littleproud said the agreement is in the implementation stage and Australia is already working to sign contracts with approved employers and the Vietnamese government.
It comes as Australia signed with Vietnam the first bilateral Memorandum of Understanding under the Australian Agriculture Visa Program.
The program is intended to provide a long-term contribution to Australia’s labour supply to support agricultural and primary industry sectors.
