Accenture Managing Director Andrew Charlton has been announced as Labor’s candidate for the marginal seat of Parramatta in Sydney’s west.
Mr Charlton appeared with Labor leader Anthony Albanese at a press conference on Thursday, where he detailed how his economic background would shape his approach to politics.
“I’ve spent the last 20 years as an economist and a business owner building stronger economies and stronger communities and that is exactly what I want to do as the member of Parramatta,” Mr Charlton said.
Mr Albanese said he was “proud and pleased” Mr Charlton had accepted the nomination, as he is someone who “engages with people from across the spectrum”.
The candidacy of Mr Charlton has attracted some controversy, as he lives in a $16m mansion in Sydney’s east.
