The principal of a school which has outraged gay and transgender communities across Australia has spoken for the first time defending the policies of the Christian college in Brisbane.
Sky News has uncovered a recorded address from the headmaster to parents, seeking to justify the policies of the Citipointe College in the city’s east.
The video was recorded as the Queensland government referred the school to the Human Rights Commission for discriminating against students based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.
But the principal Brian Mulheran has denied the school fails to support gay and nonbinary children and said the move was a “legitimate exercise of religious freedom”.
